15-Day Uganda Rwanda Safari: Gorillas, Chimps, Murchison Falls & Wildebeest Migration

The big primates and apes will be visited, the big five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhinos and buffalo), and the great annual wildebeest migration in Masai Mara and Serengeti. This means that the safari should be conducted between May and October since it’s the time for wildebeests to migrate. Detailed Itinerary.

Day1. Arrival in Kigali Rwanda and city tour

Begin the safari after meeting up with a great abs expert tour driver guide from any agreed point and after take a short city tour in Kigali where you will visit religious sites like the churches and mosques, Kigali genocide memorial ground, local markets like Kimironko market and others. Later on, head to the booked hotel for dinner and nap.

Day2. Head to Volcanoes national park and visit Iby’iwacu cultural village

Have a morning breakfast and then transfer to Volcanoes national park a home to endangered mountain gorillas and the rare golden monkeys. There are also other creatures such as different bird species, plants, butterflies and beautiful sceneries of the Waterfalls, history of Dian Fossey and others.

Have lunch at the lodge after a 3-hour drive and be served lunch followed by a visit to Iby’iwachu cultural village. This is a center of Rwandese culture. Be entertained through traditional music and dances, tasting traditional meals, storytelling and many more others. Later on, have dinner and rest at the booked lodge.

Day3. Gorilla trekking and head to Bwindi NP – Uganda

Begin the day with breakfast and then a short drive to Kinigi Park offices for briefing. Briefing a very important since it covers the rules and regulations, requirements you need while trekking, allocation of the park ranger guide and many more. Begin the search with the help of the park ranger guide and the porter in case you need to carry extra luggage.

Meeting a family of gorillas will offer you a chance to spend an hour in their presence as you take memorable photos and record videos. There is a lot to see such as birds, waterfalls, plants, small primates and many more. Immediately after the experience, transferred to Bwindi National Park in Uganda after crossing the Katuna border. Like Volcanoes National Park, Bwindi is amazing due to its beautiful scenery and the mighty gorillas. Arrive and immediately head to the lodge for dinner and a nap.

Day4. Gorilla trekking and visiting Batwa community

Breakfast will be served and then head to the park offices for briefing about this amazing experience in the impenetrable forest. Enjoy the search while meeting other eye catchments like the birds, small primates, butterflies, plants and many more others. Spend with the gorilla family as you witness its behaviors and movements. Later on head back to the lodge with your certificate of trekking for lunch followed by a visit to Batwa pygmies.

These are short people believed to be the early settlers of the forest. Be entertained with cultural dance and music, making fire using local materials and you can support their economy by purchasing their souvenirs.

Day5. Head to Kibale National Park

Leave for Kibale National Park in the morning immediately after breakfast a journey that passes through Queen Elizabeth national park (Ishasha sector) offering a chance to spot the rare tree-climbing lions. Also, meet other animals like elephants, giraffes, buffalos and many more. Arrive and check-in at the lodge for a leisurely evening.

Day6. Chimpanzee tracking and tea plantations tour (Isunga Community Tour)

Head to the Kanyanchu tourist office where you get into briefing about this amazing chimpanzee tracking experience. This will not be different from. That gorilla trekking only that here, there is no limited number of trekkers. There is a lot to discover while in this forest like the birds, plants and butterflies. Follow the Chimps for an hour and then leave the forest for lunch.

Immediately, meet and greet the local guide from Isunga cultural community Tours/association to take you on tea plantations tour at the edge of Kibale National Park. This community association is aimed at protecting wildlife and culture through benefiting from tourism. Support the locals’ economy by purchasing their handmade crafts. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Day7. Kibale to Murchison Falls NP

A delicious breakfast will be served followed by a transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. This park gets its name from the world’s most powerful water in the world which is Murchison Falls (Kabalega Falls). This park is also home to four of the big five animals that is the leopard, elephant, lion and Buffalos. Arrive after an amazing drive to the park lodge.

Day8. Game drive and boat cruise

Begin the day with breakfast at the lodge and then head for a game drive with your packed fruits. These fruits will be enjoyed at the hippo pool after using washrooms in the jungle. This game drive will last for about 3 hours but you will spot the best of wildlife in Murchison Falls with high chances of spotting four of the big five animals, antelopes like the Jackson hartebeests, bushbucks, lions, elephants and waterbucks.

Head to the lodge for lunch and then embark on the afternoon boat cruise where you get to discover water-loving animals like the hippos and crocodiles. Have a great view of the falls from the bottom as you take great photographic points.

Day9. Transfer to Kampala and fly to Nairobi Kenya

Leave Murchison in the morning with a great drive to the top of the falls. While on the way, have a stopover at the equator a point where the equator crosses Uganda at Kayabwe. Take photos and buy some Souvenirs, lunch is also served here. Arrive and Kampala and immediately fly to Nairobi.
Meet and greet the assigned driver guide that will take you through Kenya and Tanzania. Immediately head to the hotel booked.

Day10. To Masai Mara National Reserve, stopover at the rift valley viewpoint

A buffet breakfast at the hotel will be served and then head to Masai Mara national reserve with a stopover at the rift valley viewing point. Here take photos and then proceed with the journey. Masai Mara national reserve is an amazing tourist destination due to a lot of wildlife and beautiful scenery with its annual wildebeest migration. Arrive and head to the lodge with an evening game drive.

Day11. Mara adventure

Our safari adventure will begin early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise early raisers like predators. Since this will be a full-day adventure, have your today’s food with you that is breakfast and lunch which you will enjoy breakfast. Meet different wildlife ranging from wild animals to birds and among others are lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, Cape buffalo, Zebra, Wildebeest, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelle, Eland, Topi, Impalas and many others.

Day12. Cross to Tanzania-Serengeti national park

Leave Masai Mara national reserve in the morning and head to Tanzania to visit Serengeti national park. This is Africa’s finest tourist destination due to the large concentration of wildlife including the big five and big cats. On top of that, there is annual wildebeest migration that occurs between May and October. Arrive and head to the lodge

Day13. Full-day game drives in Serengeti plains

Like in Mara plains, there is a lot to explore and discover during this amazing day such as Zebras, giraffes, elephants, wildebeest, buffaloes, hippos, antelopes and gazelles and many more. Enjoy a picnic lunch and bush breakfast on this day with optional hot air ballooning Safari.

Day14. Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Leave Serengeti national park for Ngorongoro Craters for another wildlife adventure in your lifetime. Ngorongoro Crater area is amazing with the largest mountain caldera Lake in the world. Arrive and spend 5 hours taking a game drive where you spot different animals such as wildebeests, cheetahs, jackals, small primates, bushbucks, elands, hartebeests, waterbucks, kudu, hippos and zebras. Head to the lodge for dinner

Day15. Transfer to Arusha

Have leisurely breakfast and then transfer to Arusha with enroute lunch. Be dropped at the airport and this marks the end of the great primate and wildlife safari in East Africa.
