This 7 days Mara & Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda takes you to two beautiful countries – Kenya and Rwanda in the heart of East Africa. A holiday time in the territory of no humans but animals. You will visit Volcanoes national park for gorilla trekking, Musanze for cave exploration, Masai Mara for game viewing, Kigali and Nairobi for city expeditions. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Explore Kigali in 4 hours.

Clad in a safari outfit, our driver guide will welcome you from the long Journey with a name-board. A glass of juice will be shared, as the guide briefs you on what is wrapped in the safari package; the rules to follow while in this country, destinations and activities. The land is green and expect experiencing great holiday hours. It will be from the airport to the lodge for check-in and refreshment.

The last hours of the day are dedicated for uncovering different activities and attractions around one of the smartest cities on African Continent. You will explore different busy towns, craft markets, genocide memorial site and the Night life around the vibrant city. Dinner will be in the city, before you return to the lodge for overnight.

Day 2: Depart Kigali for Volcanoes National Park – Musanze caves exploration

After breakfast at about 11:00 hrs, you will check-out of the lodge for a transfer to Volcanoes national park. The Journey to your lodge in the park will last for about 3-4 hours, with views of the Zigzag valleys and the Lush vegetation. Cheers and smiles from the road side viewers is a welcome to the land of a thousand hills. Get to your lodge and check-in for lunch.

Thereafter, it will be time to uncover what happens in the cave; a blend of darkness and light. With spot lights, you will spend about one hour in this cave, visiting the dark rooms, bat colonies and also getting to understand its story. By sunset, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and night stay.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking

By 06:00 hours, keep in good terms with your intestines by waking them to a first meal of the day – coffee. After energizing yourself, pick your packed lunch and other trekking items to go for an encounter with your cousins in their natural habitat. The briefing session lasts for approximately 30 minutes, with the ranger Guides explaining the trekking dos and don’ts, assigning a gorilla family, and then they will follow you to the jungle on an adventure that lasts for 2-8 hours depending on how far the assigned gorilla family will have moved.

A trek through the forest helps you uncover other treasures, notably forest mammals, birds, plants and more primate species. Mountain gorillas can only be found in East Africa and they possess over 98% human like DNA. They live in families, led by a dominant Alpha male with a silver-like lining; a silverback. You will have lunch during this activity. At sunset, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Kigali to Nairobi Kenya

At 7:00 hrs, greet your intestines with breakfast and then check-out of the lodge for a transfer on a two hours’ drive to Kigali city. Here, you will have early lunch and then fly to Nairobi city in Kenya. Our company representative will meet and greet you in Nairobi, brief you on what the safari offers, before you embark you are transfer to your hotel for a check-in, refreshment, and overnight stay.

Day 5: Drive to Masai Mara national reserve

After a peaceful nap, wakeup for a relaxed breakfast meal. At about 09:00hr, you will embark on a journey to Masai Mara reserve, with the stunning views of the breathtaking landscape, plantations, and the scattered homesteads in the countryside. There will be an enroute stopover for photography at the Great Rift Valley, and any other captivating place. Cheers of natives will see you arrive at the lodge late in the evening refreshed and ready for the next day’s activities. Dinner and a nap marks the end of your day.

Day 6: Full day game drive

Wakeup for a delicious cup of coffee with the animals in the open savannah grassland. The breakfast will be the first interlude to an activity that will transpire the entire day. Next interlude will be a Lunch break in the wild. It is a day of identifying the prey and predators in the open savannah grassland of Africa; the lions, leopards, crocodiles, hippos, elephants, zebras, gazelles, warthogs, and more. It is by luck, yet the day has great offers and endless views to photograph, watch and know off; from savannah plains to the open Mara River, and back. End your day after the sunset game drive. Dinner and a nap will be at the lodge.

Day 7: Departure

Start your day with a mouthwatering breakfast at the lodge, and thereafter depart for Nairobi where you will have the last holiday dinner in Kenya, and then fly to your next destination.
