Airstrips in Ngorongoro: The crater borders the popular Serengeti national park renowned for the great wildebeest migration. It starts their 800 to 1000 kilometer journey from Ngorongoro to Masai Mara game reserve in Kenya every year.
There are no airstrips found inside Ngorongoro crater. But there are a number of airstrips close to the Ngorongoro conservation area. The drive from Arusha town to Ngorongoro conservation area is 3-4 hours on road. It can be reduce to less than an hour if you’re flying to several airstrips close to the conservation area.

Lake Ndutu Airstrip
Lake Ndutu airstrip is situated few kilometers from Lake Ndutu with a length of 1.22 kilometers. The airstrip serves the north western sector of Ngorongoro conservation area and the south eastern parts of Serengeti National Park. The best time for visiting this area is from December to March.
Lake Manyara Airstrip
Flying to Lake Manyara airstrip is also one of the easiest ways for accessing Ngorongoro conservation area by air. Although it primarily serves Lake Manyara national park in Arusha region of Tanzania. It’s a short drive from the airstrip to most lodges and camps in Ngorongoro conservation area.
Arusha Airport
Tourists can fly into Arusha airport and drive to Ngorongoro conservation within 2 and half or 3 hours.
Seronera Airstrip
Tourists visiting Ngorongoro conservation area can fly into Seronera airstrip and drive to Ngorongoro.
Kusini Airstrip
This is one of the most used airstrips for reaching south Serengeti national park.
