Kogatende region is nestled in the northern part of Serengeti national park at the border of Kenya and Tanzania along the southern banks of the great Mara River close to Bologonja and Klein’s gates of the park. The northern sector of Serengeti is less crowded compared to other sectors of the and also characterized by rivers, kopjes and rolling hills compared to other flat plains.
The Mara River
The river crossings at the Mara are the most sought and dramatic part of the wildebeest migration with hundreds of crocodiles pulling down millions of wildebeests while predators like lions, hyenas, leopards also pursue the herds. Lobo kopjes
Lobo kopjes are massive rocks rising out of the Lobo valley. Found close to Kogatende airstrip dotted across the Lobo valley. The rocks provide a platform for predators especially lions to view prey from below the plains.
